I, too, am annoyed by all the "business influencers" who say they're making thousands of dollars a month as a writer, and it's SO easy. They are definitely full of sh*t, as you say.

The agency I work for pays writers $50 per 500-word blog, which is the going rate for a decently written piece that we know may need a little editing once it reaches us. We've had a few newbies slip through our radar that produced horrible work (including one who submitted plagiarized copy) and were quickly dropped. If you don't have what it takes to produce good work, a business isn't going to want to pay you.

If you're a newbie, the best thing you can do for yourself is to stop reading all of the "I got rich, you can too" articles. Instead, keep writing, learn from your mistakes, and build your portfolio. That's how you become a great writer, and as your skills grow, so will your income.
